Airfuge CLS

The Airfuge CLS model it the updated version of the 'classic' model.  It  is the  tabletop ultracentrifuge, routinely used by hundreds of clinical laboratories to enhance the accuracy of today's random access chemistry analyzers. The Airfuge CLS provides a simple, rapid method of removing chylomicrons without loss of the serum constituents being analyzed. Utilizing the special Beckman Coulter Chylomicron Rotor and liner, lipemic samples can be cleared in 10 minutes, eliminating the need for send outs. A number of rotors are available to further enhance the Airfuge CLS's exceptional versatility, including a batch rotor for pelleting. Four fixed angle rotors generate the high speeds and forces necessary to perform a variety of tasks, including binding studies, steroid hormone receptor assays, and separating lipoprotein fractions for HDL, LDL, and VLDL determinations. Features of the Beckman Airfuge include: Quick acceleration—reaches top speed in as little as 30 seconds Reaches speeds and forces of up to 110,000 rpm and 199,000 g Smooth deceleration—the air system allows the rotors to decelerate smoothly and helps minimize remixing of sample contents Operating temperatures just a few degrees above ambient. Run timer-for timed runs up to five hours, with hold position for longer runs Safety features-interlock cover prevents the centrifuge from being opened during operation Bench top operation and portability—weighs just 23 lbs (10.4kg).

Note: this model, is functionally identical to the classic Airfuge

Beckman Airfuge Ultracentrifuge

This 'classic' is recognized as the ultimate small volume pelleting tool.  Also primo for clarification of biological samples such as sera prior to other analysis.  Can be used to pellet or sediment any material that can be pelleted in an conventional ultracentrifuge but in a fraction of the time.  Ultra convenient since only a pressurized air (42 psig) source is required to drive the rotor to speeds up to 100,000 rpm! WOW!  Run time is incredibly short due to the very small distance that particles have to travel to the tube wall and due to incredibly short acceleration times.  It takes about 30 seconds for the rotor to reach full speed.
