Perkin Elmer 4110 ZL Zeeman Corrected Graphite Furnace
Atomic Absorption Spectrometer

Perkin Elmer 4110 Atomic Absorption

The model 4110 ZL is a totally automated multi-element analysis system for Zeeman-effect Graphite Furnace AAS. The 4110 ZL is a compact benchtop AA instrument, including all spectrometer and furnace components in a single unit for minimum space requirements. The 4110 ZL provides complete system control-spectrometer, graphite furnace, Zeeman correction system, autosampler and optional accessories-from the single keyboard and CRT display of an industry-standard personal computer using advanced graphical AA software.

The 4110 ZL includes a high throughput optical system designed for maximum analytical performance with the graphite furnace. Built-in lamp power supplies are available for both hollow cathode and Perkin Elmer System 2 electrodeless discharge lamps. Zeeman background correction provides the exceptional correction accuracy required with ultratrace GFAA analyses. The use of longitudinal "AC" Zeeman system further enhances system performance by eliminating the need for a polarizer or other energy-reducing components in the optical system.

A Transversely Heated Graphite Atomizer (THGA) with an integrated platform is an integral part of the 4110 ZL. This advanced furnace design provides a uniform temperature over the entire graphite tube length to minimize temperature gradients and condensation effects. With THGA, all graphite furnace elements can be determined using the L"vov platform and other key components of the Stabilized Temperature Graphite Furnace (STPF) technology that provides near interference-free GFAA analysis.

An 80 position AS-72 Furnace Autosampler is standard equipment with the 4110 ZL. All autosampler paramters are set and controlled via the system computer and software.
For further versatility, the 4110 ZL can also be used with Perkin Elmer FIAS systems for automated mercury/hydride analyses, giving the 4110 ZL the capability to analyze environmental samples for all elements of regulatory interest.

The 4100 will read one element at a time. The one that's in the turret. It can be programmed so that it would read the entire tray again for element #2 in lamp position and so forth.
