The Opti Medical OPTI® LION Stat Electrolyte Analyzer

Lab quality results

The OPTI® LION Stat Electrolyte Analyzer provides lab quality results with zero standby cost. The single-use consumable is only used during a measurement and safely locks waste inside.

No electrode maintenance

The OPTI® LION Stat Electrolyte Analyzer does not use electrodes eliminating the need for electrode maintenance. In addition, the single-use cassette does not require a fluidics system, eliminating tubing maintenance.

Reusable controls

The OPTI® LION Stat Electrolyte Analyzer has reusable quality control cassettes to eliminate the cost associated with performing daily liquid quality control.

Measured pH and ionized calcium along with Na, K and Cl-

The OPTI® LION Stat Electrolyte Analyzer measures pH and ionized calcium in the same single-use cartridge that also measures sodium, potassium and chloride simultaneously, providing a more complete picture of the patients status.

Easy To Run

  • The user friendly touch screen, with simple menu navigation, can be used by any staff at any time with minimal training
  • Automated sample aspiration reduces staff time and training
  • Measured pH allows for a measured and normalized ionized calcium

Principles of Operation

The OPTI® LION analyzer is a microprocessor-based instrument that measures optical fluorescence from discreet sensors called optical electrodes (optodes). A disposable, single-use cassette contains all of the elements needed for calibration, sample measurement and waste containment.

Specific calibration information from the cassette is read into the analyzer by swiping the cassette package through the bar-code reader. The cassette is then placed into the measurement chamber.

The analyzer performs a calibration verification on all sensors before aspiration of the sample into the disposable cassette. When calibration is verified, the analyzer aspirates the blood sample into the cassette and across the optode sensors. After equilibrating with the blood sample, fluorescence emission is then measured.

OPTI LION Single Use Patient Cassette features

  • Shelf life = 6 months from the date of manufacture
  • Calibration of cassette before sampling
  • Sample probe – Allows sampling from sample collection tubes or syringe
  • Launch
    • E-PLUS Cassette
    • 25 cassettes per box
    • Measures Na, K, Cl, Ca and pH

  • Waste stored in cassette for safe disposal
  • No electrodes provides maintenance-free operation and no guess work as to when to replace the electrode
  • No reagents for zero standby cost
  • Only costs are cassette and printer paper
